Training for unemployed youth underway

Dimapur, November 5 (MExN): The Batch 23 of skill training for unemployed youth was inaugurated at Don Bosco Tech AIDA centre here on November 4.  

Rev. L. Lima, DABA Associate Pastor, who was the chief guest, lauded the initiative of Don Bosco Tech to provide skill training to dropouts, offering courses on hospitality – food & beverage service, and beauty & wellness. “It is praiseworthy that these dropouts become employable and in demand across the world,” he stated, and asked the trainees to set smart goals.  

“Whether you are a matriculate or PUC passed it is important to get trained in a specific field. That will help you to start your own business tomorrow,” he added, according to a press release from Regina Pamma Karai, Coordinator, Don Bosco Tech AIDA Centre.  

Meanwhile, Amos Ekka, the state coordinator (operations) said, “Today Don Bosco Society works for the development and education of the young especially those most at risk.” Through its schools, colleges, universities, technical schools and youth centres and many more interventions in 132 countries, the Salesians of Don Bosco serve all young people irrespective of religious differences or social inequalities, Amos stated.  

He further highlighted the Unique Selling Proposition of Don Bosco Tech such as regular assessment of trainees through weekly tests and monthly assessment, parent meetings, 8 hour trainings daily for 6 days a week, training in basic computing, communicative English and soft skills besides the domain training involving practical and theoretical input along with industrial visits and guest lectures. Trainees are assessed and certified by external assessment agency at the end of the training.  

He informed the gathering that at least 12 past trainees of AIDA centre are working overseas and some of them earn over Rs. 1 lakh per month.  

Ghuto Awomi welcomed the gathering and Harisbert shared his life testimony. The audience witnessed Tangkhul and Nepali folk dances and Chakesang folk song performed by trainees.  

A total of 42 people from 15 different tribes of North East have enrolled for the training, which dwells in domains such as hospitality – food and beverage service and hospitality – beauty and wellness.
