Kohima, January 31 (MExN): A one-week training course on World War II for practicing tour guides of Nagaland was completed on January 31 at the 19 Assam Rifles headquarters, Kohima.
Giving away the certificates, Commissioner and Secretary, Tourism and Arts and Culture, Himato Zhimomi, IFS, told the participants that all sides of the War need to be brought out faithfully. A press release issued by Kohima Educational Society president, Charles Chasie informed that Himato opined “it is now time for our people to tell our story and history by our people and not for other people to keep telling the stories that have happened in our land.” He said that an unfortunate happening of 70 years ago is today one of our biggest USPs and we should make the most of it. He also assured Government support to the extent possible.
The training course was conducted by the Assam Rifles at the request of Kohima Educational Society (KES), Nagaland counterpart of Kohima Educational Trust (KET), set up by the British veterans of the Battle of Kohima. The IG Assam Rifles, Major General M. M. Naravane, SM, facilitated the course. In his absence, Brigadier Pem Tshering, deputy IG, took on the responsibility for the course along with his team.
