Transform and reform society through skillful education: Governor tells students

Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has called on students not to be mere certificate graduates, but people with ability to transform and reform society through skillful education.  

Acharya, who is the official visitor of St. Joseph's University, Dimapur, said this during his official visit to the university on July 23. He had attended a lecture on ‘Skill Development; Making Youth Employable’ organized at the university.  

According to a press release from Fr. Justin, PRO, St. Joseph’s University, the Governor insisted upon the need to preserve the mother tongue, which he said is the base of every society. He also urged the students to be more employable with lots of skills and not just mere certificate holders.  

The Governor further introduced to the students various skill development programmes initiated by the Prime Minister and urged them to avail the same.  

Meanwhile, Dr. Ganadurai, the Vice Chancellor, delivered the keynote address. He explained the “unique nature” of the university, stating the university is well ahead in implementing Central government approved skill development programmes. The VC further stated all the faculty members at the university will be doctorate holders in two years time.  

The programme was also attended by Sr. Jagani, secretary of the university, Sr. Thaines, administrator and other officials of the university.
