Treat border issue with seriousness: CNSA

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) has appealed the Nagaland government to start treating the inter-state border dispute with Assam with seriousness. According to the CNSA, it toured the Tzürangkong in Mokokchung and Merapani in Wokha bordering Assam, during which it was found that the people in the border areas are living a vulnerable existence, struggling to survive for a lack of basic necessities like road, water, electricity, healthcare and security from the state government.

Given the condition of the people living along the inter-state border, it stated that it calls for certain measures, including posting of adequate police personnel in the border area and setting up of village guards.

It further called for completing the Nagaland Foothills Road, abrogation of the 1972 and 1979 Agreements with the Assam Government and formation of a separate Directorate for Border Affairs and including legislators from the border areas in the state and inter-state boundary committee.
