Diphupar Naga Students’ Union holds 25th Biennial General Conference
Chümoukedima, June 3 (MExN): The Diphupar Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) held its 25th Biennial General Conference with Er Seyiekhrietuo Solo, EAC Seithekema, Chümoukedima as the special guest on June 3.
According to a DIPR report, citing “tribalism as the biggest obstacle in the society,” the special guest said that tribalism was prevalent all around the Naga society, both in conscious and unconscious ways. He stated that ‘one should accept as one, not by tribalism but as an own, and should celebrate the success of other tribes as one's own tribe.’
The DNSU general secretary report for 2020-2023 was reported by Jerry Tsopoe, where he said that the new Executive Council of DNSU for the tenure 2020-2023 took over the office on November 30, 2020 headed by President, Mhasizolie Angami.
In these three years, DNSU took active part with the NSF, where the union observed 6 hours bandh on December 6, 2021 against the massacre of innocent Naga civilian at Oting Village Mon district to express their solidarity and demanded the repeal of draconian AFSPA 1958.
Among others, it also undertook the tobacco awareness initiative within its jurisdiction following the guidelines provided by the National Tobacco Control, 'Yellow Line’ which restricts the shops to sell tobacco and its product located around the academic institution in 100 meters radius.
DPRO Dimapur, Lolano Khuvung in her short speech encouraged the student community for proper time management, and to set their priority for achieving their targeted goals. Further, she advised the union to take up innovative programmes and initiatives for celebrating its 50th Jubilee in a grand manner which will happen in 6 years time
The invocation was delivered by Thepfukutuo Miachieo, Youth Director, Angami Baptist Church Diphupar, welcome note by Zuchumo Mozhui, Convenor, Organizing Committee, short speech by Wati Lemtur, special number by Unity Christian Hr Sec School, swearing in of new team by election commission, dedicatory prayer by Jacob Achumi, Associate Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Diphupar, duet by Christian Mission Hr Sec School, vote of thanks by J Parmeishang, Deputy Speaker DNSU, and benediction by Sepio, youth pastor, Sangtam Baptist Church Diphupar.
