Tribe hohos to decide on peace committee

Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): A day after a crucial meeting held at Dimapur, the Naga Hoho in an official statement informed that the committee on ‘Unity and Reconciliation’ as first reported in The Morung Express on May 18, will consist of one member each from the Angami, Chakhesang, Ao, Lotha, Sumi, Tangkhul, Anal and Zeliangrong tribes and also one or two representative from the Eastern Naga Peoples’ Organization. It may be mentioned that the ENPO participated in the crucial Naga Hoho meeting on the invitation of the Hoho. HK Zhimomi, Speaker of the Naga Hoho stated that the House endorsed to the respective tribes and organisation to recommend the name of the member to the office of the Naga Hoho on or before June 10 next. Zhimomi also stated that the house resolved to pursue the process of reconciliation amongst the Naga more vigorously, and therefore resolved to form the committee 

Striving to maintain a healthy and congenial atmosphere and for realization of unity in Nagaland, the Naga Hoho has further resolved to urge the Naga undergrounds  not to interfere in the Naga civil cases. 

Zhimomi informed that the resolution to appeal the Naga groups was taken during its fourth Federal Assembly held on May 18 at Dimapur Tourist Lodge Conference Hall, which deliberated exclusively on unity and reconciliation among the Naga as specified earlier. 

“To help maintain healthy and congenial atmosphere for Nagas to (begin) unity and reconciliation process, the house resolved to urge the ‘Naga national organisations’ to stop interfering in the civil cases pertaining to village/communities/ or individual disputes,” stated the Hoho. 

Zhimomi also stated that in order to expedite the process of reconciliation the house further resolved to request all Naga undergrounds to stop and suspend all offensive or operations all the Naga areas.
