Tseminyu district level science fair held

TSEMINYU, SEPTEMBER 3 (MExN): The Tseminyu district level science fair was held on September 2 at Government Higher Secondary School, Tseminyu organised by the District Education Office Tseminyu in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education and Samagra Shiksha Nagaland with Longasen Lotha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu as the guest of honour.

Longasen Lotha, ADC, Tseminyu remarked that the United Nations General Assembly has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets, a proposal by India to enhance public awareness on the health benefits of millet and sustainability for cultivation. He stressed that science and technology have created a fast-changing society within twenty years. He motivated the students' participants to inculcate the “spirit of questioning with a human touch and utilise technology for the betterment of society developing innovative mindsets.”

Further, the guest of honour encouraged all stakeholders “to create forums for students igniting the spirit of competition to draw out the best in everyone”. He advised the students that “there will be no winners and losers but they should take the avenue as a learning process”.

Thirteen schools comprising of five private schools (DBS Tseminyu, BHSS Tseminyu, AG School Tseminyu, DBS Tesophenyu and Jireh School Chunlikha) and the seven government schools (GHS Sendenyu, GHS Kasha, GHSS Tseminyu, GHS Tseminyu New Town, GHS Tesophenyu, GHS Chunlikha & GHS Kandinu) participated in the district-level science fair. 

Winners of the District Level Science Seminar 2023 on the topic ‘Millet a supper food or a diet fad?’ were Hengwa Seb, Class-10 of Christian School Tseminyu: First; Tenyenle Kemp, Class-10 of GHSS Teeminyu: Second; and Kesogi Kent, Class-9 of AG School Tseminyu: Third. 

Winners of the District Level Science Exhibition 2023 under the topic “Science & Technology” (Individual Category) were Shonye Semy, Class-10 of DBS Tseminyu: First; Solo Semp, Class-9 of GHSS Tseminyu: Second; and Marlyn Tsela, Class-9 of DBS Tesophenyu & Sobinlo Tep, Class-9 of GHS Kasha: Third.

Winners of the District Level Science Exhibition 2023 (Group Category) were Ngvuyen Rengma & Jochuhyule Khing, Class-10 of BHSS Tseminyu: First; Kvulo Bukh & Vesala Sangtam, Class-9 of GHS Tseminyu New Town: Second; and Sokenye Kent & Nenshale Jemu, Class-10 & Class-9 of GHS Chunlikha: Third. 

The winners bagging the champions title in each category i.e. science seminar and science exhibition (individual & group) will compete in the State Level Science Fair scheduled on September 12 at GHSS Pfutsero.

Chegeseng Kath, AHM/JEO moderated the fair and Gwayhunle Tep, SDEO i/c DEO Tseminyu pronounced the welcome address. Christian School Tseminyu presented a special song and Rushulo Khing, Coordinator EBRC Tseminyu pronounced the vote of thanks. Francis Rengma, TOT recorded the science fair.
