
Tseminyu, October 30 (MExN): The two-day block level training for teachers on the uses of Teaching Learning Materials (TLMs) developed for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) under National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat Mission was conducted at Educational Block Resources Centre (EBRC) Hall Tseminyu district on October 28 and 29.
A press release received here stated that in the inaugural session, Dr Bijano Murry, Joint Mission Director Samagra Shiksha stated that the vision of NIPUN BHARAT is to “ensure universal acquisition of foundational literacy and numeracy by the end of Grade-3 by 2026-27 focussing on areas such as providing access and retaining children in foundational years of schooling, capacity building of teachers, high quality and varied teaching learning materials, tracking the progress of each child in achieving learning outcomes.”
She noted in her keynote address that “teachers have huge responsibility as they will be in reality implementing the mission at the ground level despite of decisions and policies being framed at the higher levels.”
Chubamenla Tep, SDEO (charge) cum Chairman EBRC Tseminyu district appreciated the State Mission, Samagra Shiksha for activating the mission and urged the teachers to “take full advantage of the orientation and make a difference in their schools as change agents.”
Thonsenglo Kath, Assistant District Coordinator DMA Samagra Shiksha Kohima supplemented that implementation of NIPUN Bharat Mission will use “the existing mainstream structure taking overall approaches and active participation of stakeholders.” He encouraged the teachers “to reap the opportunity for relearning and learn together for better action plans at school levels and providing constructive feedbacks.”
The District Master Trainers (DMT) were Francis Magh (TOT) and Hinilo Cheng(TOT) dwelling on Foundational Literacy, Preschool(ECCE), Assessment, Foundational Literacy, Role of Head Teachers for Monitoring Child Tracking & Mentors in NIPUN Bharat and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Group discussions and presentations on use of TLMs for language and numeracy were demonstrated and animated during the training by the participants.
Forty schools comprising of 116 teachers participated during the two-days training.
