I Lanu Toy and his wife Amongla Toy, Dr Mar Atsongchanger and Repalemzung Longkumer during the book launch of ‘Tsüngchi Samanir Ka’ at Hotel Vivor Kohima on January 27.
Kohima, January 27 (MExN): ‘Tsüngchi Samanir Ka’, the biography of I Lanu Toy was formally launched today by Executive Secretary, ABAM, Dr Mar Atsongchanger at Hotel Vivor Kohima.
Toy is a retired Chief Engineer who is known for his selfless and dedication to serve the people and a strict disciplinarian who broke no interference from any quarter in official matter, a press release from the event informed. He is also the father of present Chief Secretary Nagaland, Temjen Toy.
The author of the book, Repalemzung Longkumer, Editor of ‘Lenjeter’, an Ao vernacular monthly magazine in his short speech said that he met the retired officer in May 2017 to interview him but later embarked in penning down his journey. It took him two years to complete the book.
The author further informed that during his interviews and encounter with Toy, he has learned a lot described him as a man of his words, truthful, hard working, dedicated and a very punctual person.
He also thanked Amongla Toy, wife of Lanu Toy for her contribution and help in his work.
The author also acknowledged Senkaba Ao, former Editor, Ao Milen (a daily Ao vernacular newspaper) for the title of the book ‘Tsüngchi Samanir Ka’.
Lanu Toy, in his speech, said it was God’s will that a biography about his life was launched - an opportunity for him to which he was very satisfied.
Toy said he could not refuse Repalemzung and Dr Tali Imsong on their second visit requesting him to be interviewed.
He said that during these interviews, he remembered and recollected many fond memories of the past he thought had been forgotten and described these memories as “a very refreshing moment thinking of the past”.
Toy described his biography as "the truth of his life, his work experiences and testimonies of his life to all the readers."
The book launch programme was chaired by Director, IPR, Limawati Longchar. The invocation prayer was pronounced by Rev I Bendangmeren, Pastor KABA and the benediction prayer by Sentisashi Aier, Pastor KABA. The date of the book launch also coincided with Lanu Toy's 92nd birthday. (
