In a bid to enhance financial literacy and address community concerns, Tuensang Town All Ward Union (TTAWU) organized a seminar on October 21 at their office with officials from the State Bank of India (SBI) as resource persons. The seminar aimed to educate the public on the importance of banking services, transaction management, and the significance of regular KYC updates.

The resource persons, representing SBI, underscored the necessity for individuals to maintain active bank accounts, emphasizing compliance with bank norms to ensure secure and enhanced account benefits. Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of availing insurance schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), urging the community to be aware of these schemes for the benefit of their families.

Addressing various banking services, the officials focused on the right of customers to voice grievances officially, particularly in cases of deprivation. They also shed light on the plethora of loan schemes available, with special attention given to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Credit Card (PM Kisan KCC) loan, designed to empower genuine farmers to generate income for their livelihood and create employment opportunities.

In a significant move, the SBI officials granted TTAWU the authority to distribute forms for PMSBY, PMJJBY, and PM Kisan KCC loan within their respective wards, streamlining the process for interested individuals to avail of these benefits through their ward representatives.

During the interactive discussion session, TTAWU expressed concerns about the non-functioning of ATM booths in and around Tuensang town. The union also raised issues regarding the involvement of middlemen in bank processes, particularly in the processing of various types of bank loans. Additionally, concerns were voiced about the need for an extension of cash counters in the bank and the installation of more ATM booths in the town for public convenience.

SBI officials acknowledged these concerns as crucial agenda items and provided guidance on the appropriate channels for addressing them officially. They welcomed any issues related to bank services towards customers and assured their commitment to resolving these matters promptly.

The seminar not only served as a platform to disseminate valuable information on banking practices but also facilitated a constructive dialogue between the community and banking officials. The collaborative effort between TTAWU and SBI reflects a commitment to addressing local concerns and promoting financial inclusion in Tuensang town.
