Dimapur, January 8 (MExN): The Tenyimi Union, Dimapur (TUD), in its emergency meeting held today, resolved to insist upon Assam and Nagaland governments to strictly adhere to the principles of parity by awarding ex-gratia to the victims belonging to the Rengma Naga community.
In an open letter to the chief ministers of Assam and Nagaland, TUD president and its general secretary stated that after coming across news items regarding grant of ex-gratia by the two states of Assam and Nagaland to the nine Karbi victims, whose bodies were recovered at Pachaspura near Chumukedima on January 3, TUD held an emergency meeting and, after much deliberations, resolved to condemn the discrimination meted out to the Rengma Naga victims.
According to the letter, the Union resolved that equal compensation and ex-gratia should be provided to the Rengma Nagas who were killed and injured in the current conflict without any discrimination and that proper rehabilitation should be provided to the displaced. The members present agreed to condemn all forms of killings, the note added. The Union also decided to sincerely urge upon the two State governments to initiate proper steps to prevent further escalation of the present conflict.
