Tuensang district became the second after Mon to receive an ambulance from Medical Oxygen For All (MOFA) under the initiative of District Administration Tuensang on September 27.
A dedicatory programme was held at the Chapel Hall of the Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS) joined by the staffs of ECS, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang and L Ongmang, Pastor Yungkük Baptist Church, Tuensang.
The programme was chaired by Rev Dr Chingmak Kejong Founder and Secretary, ECS. Chingmak expressing his gratitude and appreciation to DC Tuensang, stated that he played a ‘major role’ in it and also acknowledged the presence of L Ongmang by mentioning about his service to the cause of ECS since the beginning.
He stated that the ambulance would greatly enhance the health care delivery service in the district especially to those villages which are hard to reach. He assured the team that their gesture will benefit the people who need it the most.
DC Tuensang in his address stated that it is truly remarkable to see the team effort of the ECS and the total commitment towards catering to the needs of most of the Eastern Nagaland region. He also lauded appreciation to the MOFA team for giving the ambulance, stating that it is a ‘blessing’ and it will be helpful to the remotest part of the country in ‘serving to the poorest of the poor’.
He furthered expressed his appreciation towards ECS who have planned to cover 15 more PHCs under their organisation. ECS under its health programme covers around 86 villages in Tuensang, Mon, Noklak and Longleng districts.
A short documentary film called “Health First” which is an ECS production and funded by HCL was also screened. The filming is done at Yongkhao village in Mon district and it shows the plight of the villagers where the basic medical assistance is unavailable to them. Chingmak expressed that this documentary film will provide an insight into how much this ambulance is going to be helpful.
The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by L Ongmang, Pastor Yungkük Baptist Church, Tuensang.
