DIMAPUR, JANUARY 10 (MExN): NPF MLAs from Tuensang district has also chimed in on the issue of the non-payment of Grant-in-Aid (GIA) to the Village Development Board (VDB) which the Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang had recently alleged was ‘looted.’

A joint press statement from MLA of 53 Tuensang Sadar-I Toyang Chang, MLA of 54 Tuensang Sadar-II Kejong Chang and MLA of 52 Longkhim Chare Muthingyuba Sangtam has questioned as to why and how the VDBs of the district have not fulfilled the criteria to receive the GIA in time.

It also wanted to know the actions initiated by the department to correct the lapses if any in order to ensure that there is a smooth functioning in the future.

While urging the department, at the directorate and block level, to guide the various VDBs if they lack the knowledge and give them the share that they are due on a timely basis without any delay, the MLAs said the “ignorance of the people should not be taken as an advantage by the privileged class” and instead should focus on working together in the spirit of brotherhood and take the State forward in the right development path.

The MLAs also criticized the arbitrary decision of the government in changing the sub-allocation which was approved by the High Level Committee.
