Turmoil within NSCN/GPRN-K continues

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): The turmoil within the NSCN/GPRN-K continued on Monday with another press release from the ‘Deputy Secretary and MIP in charge’ of the group, Chungki claiming that the earlier press statements issued on September 13 are “considered baseless by the Government since using the nomenclature as NSCN-K after the expulsion order being declared.”

The latest release was in response to statements which were also issued by the ‘MIP’ of the NSCN/GPRN-K on September 13 which “disowned” the leadership of Khango Konyak and affirmed the General Secretary post of Col (Retd) Isak Sumi.

The latest statement informed that the “government in following the procedures” directed Col (Retd) Isak Sumi to “vacate the ceasefire office in Dimapur and to submit all government properties.” “The government has every right to claim and to take further steps since the disowned General Secretary has no right to occupy the office and government properties,” it said.

The press release further informed that “after a discussion, the house resolved to elect Khango Konyak the President/Chairman NSCN/GPRN-K as Co-convenor of NNPGs and the W/C Member as AM Kaiba, Kilonser, NSCN/GPRN-K.”

It also refuted the statement made regarding the support and co-operation gained by Col (Retd) Isak Sumi “from all the regions” as “baseless as all the recognised regions of NSCN-K are intact and present at CHQ Anmoi (Yongkhao Village).”
