Two doctors and a nurse were tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Manipur.


Official sources said that the two doctors and the nurse who were found positive for the virus late Sunday are from Bishnupur district hospital. Their samples were confirmed positive for the virus at the VRDL at JNIMS hospital in Imphal, officials of the Health department said.


It can be noted here that, sometimes ago, a nurse from Churachandpur district had also tested positive for COVID-19. She had been discharged from the hospital after recovery.


However, there is no community transmission of the pandemic in the State, a statement of the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the Manipur government said.


The two doctors and the nurse were among 57 persons who were found positive during the last 24 hours, according to the control room. 


Meanwhile, 57 new positive cases of COVID-19 were detected in the past 24 hours during the testing of 2,343 samples in Manipur. With this, till date, a total of 38,286 samples were tested for the virus in the State.


With these fresh cases, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the state increased to 898.


According to the statement, 648 are active cases as 250 patients were discharged from the hospitals.


Meanwhile, according to the statement of the COVID-19 control room, if an exposed person develops symptoms before testing, the person should be referred to a designated health care facility immediately for isolation/observation and sample collection. Such prompt action will reduce secondary attacks, it added.
