Tzurang Valley Youth Fest: Tune Up Channel wins ‘Clash of Bands’

The two-day extravagant Youth Fest 2016 of Tzurang valley (Mokokchung) culminated on December 20 evening in a grand manner with the Bollywood singers and dancers sizzling the night and a local band winning the ‘Clash of Bands’.   The last night of the two-day extravaganza was graced by renowned Bollywood actor, Rajpal Yadav, who entertained the audience with his stage presentation.   Earlier in the day, the fest was marked by competition in different traditional games and events like cock-fight, tug-of-war, earthen pot making, yodelling, traditional, pork fat eating, folk fiddling, speed walking etc.   The main attraction of the night was the beat contest ‘Clash of Bands’, where six bands made it to the finals after presenting two songs each; the ultimate winner went to Tune Up Channel for their exquisite and professional performance. Blue Fairy bagged the runner up title. The contest was judged by veteran musicians Mongphuri, Lichen, and Tongdang. The winning band was awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000 plus certificates, while the runner-up was awarded a cash prize of Rs 25,000. Tune Up Channel also got the rare opportunity to perform with the Bollywood celebrities much to the liking of the audience.     Winners of the traditional games competition:
