Kohima, September 16 (MExN): One day meeting-cum-discussion on implementation of Student Data Collection In-sync with Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) 2016-17 of SSA and RMSA was held at DUDA Guest House here on September 15. It was attended by all the State Project Officers, Finance Controllers, officers from Directorate, DEOs/DDEOs, and Assistant District Coordinators with their district personnel.
State Mission Director, Gregory Thejawelie (SSA) in his introductory speech highlighted the importance of collecting authentic data from the schools. Even the district authorities, he stated, should strictly cross verify and scrutinize few random sample schools from their end to ensure data accuracy submitted by schools since consistent data will ultimately help in effective planning. He also encouraged all the participants to tackle in areas where “we” are lagging behind and improve data quality, a press release received here informed.
State Mission Director (Addl. Director, Department of School Education), Limawabang Aier (RMSA) also remarked on the hierarchy flaws in the functioning of the system. He asserted that better coordination should be maintained henceforth between SSA, RMSA, DSE, DEOs & SDEO etc. He also suggested that the data collected under UDISE should be vetted by the Directorate of School Education in order to maintain ownership.
Issues and problems faced at the district level in various areas were also discussed in the presence of the two Mission Directors, who assured to take up the issues for smooth functioning of the project.
I. Akum Aier, State MIS Officer sensitized the participants on collection of the Student Individual Data as directed by Ministry of Human Resource & Development, Govt. of India. It was informed that the authentic schools’ data once uploaded to the National Database will be an integral part of Child Tracking System initiated by HRD in collaboration with NUEPA (National University of Educational Planning & Administration), New Delhi and UNICEF. He also emphasised on the data gaps observed over the years during analysis of Educational Indicators which play a key role during planning process and expressed that there were rooms for improvement. He further thanked all the officers for their collective effort.
