ULLAS orientation held in Tseminyu

Tseminyu, June 12 (MExN): A one-day orientation and mobilisation programme for community leaders under the Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS) initiative was held at the EBRC Training Hall, Tseminyu, on June 11.

Delivering the keynote address, Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu, Japheth Woch, said ULLAS is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at empowering adults aged 15 years and above who missed formal schooling opportunities.

He stated that the programme targets non-literate citizens above the age of 15 and seeks to provide foundational literacy and critical life skills while contributing towards the creation of an educated and self-reliant society. He called for active participation and cooperation from communities for the successful implementation of the programme.

Supervisor, Adult Education, Kohima, Alesh Thong, spoke on the role of communities in implementing the scheme and urged community leaders to contribute through voluntary service to eradicate illiteracy in society.

The programme was chaired by EBRC Coordinator Tseminyu, Rushulo Khing, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Francis Magh, ToT, EBRC Tseminyu.
