ICFAI University Nagaland observes United Nations Day
Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): The Department of Political Science, ICFAI University Nagaland organised a talk on the topic ‘UN and its Relation with NGOs: A Local Perspective’ to commemorate the United Nations Day on October 24. Students of the Department took part in making posters relating to the UN Day. W. Chenithung Humtsoe, Chief Functionary, Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre, Dimapur delivered the talk, stated a press release received here. The speaker highlighted on the origin, importance, working and relevance of the United Nations. He pointed out that Non-Governmental Organisations have been actively cooperating with the United Nations since its inception.
In his lecture, he also mentioned how UN related agencies are working in Nagaland either directly networking with the state government or with NGOs like UNDP, UNODC, WHO, UNICEF, ILO, UNFPA, etc. He encouraged the students not only be focussed on Government jobs but find avenues outside it. He also commented that the UN and its different agencies can also provide such opportunities with the required qualifications and interests. The talk ended with a robust discussion between the speaker and the students.
