Kohima, May 27 (MExN): Following the Government's directive on measures to combat illegal collection of money from vehicles at check gates and other locations in the district, the Inspection team of Kohima check gates conducted an inspection drive on May 27.
The team led by District Administration, Police, Transport and IPR inspected and made spot verification of all the unauthorised check gates at Jakhama, Phesama, By-Pass, Meriema and Keyake BSF Camp area under the district Municipal area, stated a DIPR report.
During the inspection, the team observed that all the unauthorised check gates within the municipal areas have been closed down by concerned government departments and unions as per the directive, however, in two locations, the sign board/banner were found at the site whereby the team removed the board as an immediate action. Besides that, no other gate was found functioning within the municipal area.
The team also took updates on the functioning of the Inter State check gate at Khuzama, where the authorised police personnel were carrying out the routine frisking and checking for any illegal form of transportation.
