Six persons including a woman and a pharmacist were ex-communicated from United North Block (UNB) ‘A’ Naga Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur today by the Colony Council after they were caught selling banned drugs (brown sugar) in the colony during a community policing carried out by the Colony Council (CC) members, women and youth.
The peddling of drugs surfaced when an alleged “user” identified as Bilal Hussian was caught buying the “banned drugs” by the community policing team from a woman peddler in the colony and the alleged “user” later disclosed the names of the other peddlers.
Meanwhile, the accused 6 peddlers, in a meeting held by the Council with the residents, confessed that they were into peddling the banned drugs for some years.
The Chairman of the colony, Zasivikho Zakiesato and Secretary, Toshi Aier informed that all the accused have been expelled from the colony with their families from September 29 and were given a limited time frame starting from 12:00 am after which if they were seen in the colony, they would be held responsible for any untoward incident.
Zasivikho further cautioned the other colony chairmen and officials in Dimapur of the ex-communicated families and urged them not to entertain the accused and their families by renting houses.
