Concerned over the high number of educated unemployed youths in the state, Achilo Thong, president of the Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN), today said the Union will take a strong move against departments providing bogus appointments in the state.
Maintaining that the state government cannot provide jobs to all educated unemployed youths in the state, he said that the Union is also in the move of pressurising the government to accommodate educated unemployed youths into various agri and allied sectors. Stating that ‘filing RTI in all departments’ would be their ‘weapon’ against all malpractices, he said the Union will fight against all injustice for the younger generation.
Highlighting over a number of 55 thousand (approx) educated unemployed youths registered in the record of employment exchange and 5 thousand (approx) educated unemployed registered under the Union, he said the EUUN would try to render its best service for those by eradicating unemployment and checking self-employment schemes. “Naga society is facing various problems like corruption, unemployment, extortion, youth unrest, frequent rape incidents and killings,” he said, while adding that the voluntary contribution of educated people is highly wanted and felt in the society.
Terming EUUN as the “watch dog” of the society, he said the Union must continue to fight for justice and against injustice towards achieving better social transformation and clearing the path for the younger generation. “Dirty politics is creating lots of injustice for the people; Nagas need to reject the entry of ‘goondas’ and law offenders in the political party folds if they really want a true democracy,” he added.
Formed in 1984, and the Union being dysfunctional for almost ten years, a new office of the Union was also formally inaugurated today by Rev. L Kari Longchar, Director of Peace Affairs, NBCC. The new office is located at Rokabozou, High School Road, opposite Census office.
