Ungma: Season Star Club observes 56th Foundation Day

The Season Star Club (SSC), Ungma village under Mokokchung district observed its 56th Foundation Day cum Academic Excellence and Achiever’s Award at Yimtsungta Arok Sapang, Ungma on December 21.

A total of 24 individuals were awarded at the event. The awardee and achievers were individuals who cleared various competitive exams and achievers in academic field. 

The main speaker for the programme, Prof Temjensosang Imsong, Director, Research Development & Consultancy, Nagaland University, in his speech congratulated the awardees stating that their achievements have made the villagers proud.

“Nothing is greater in this generation and therefore, more stress should be given to education,” Imsong stated. Stressing on the National Education Policy 2020, he said that skill development education is the most prominent feature of the policy and that many co-curricular activities and programmes will be introduced. Therefore, it is important to support the schools when the policy comes into action. Imsong also said, “if our knowledge is not open we will not understand the policies and we will be run over by it.”

To the awardees, the speaker took the example of how the Ancient Greek people divided the society into three groups: the idiots, the tribal people and the real citizens. He encouraged the awardees to be the real citizens and never forget to support and give back to the society.

Earlier, Tsukjemsungba Jamir, President, SSR in his welcome address congratulated the awardees and acknowledged the awardees for bringing great honor to the village and informed that 24 individuals from Ungma village will be awarded challenged everyone present to have more awardees next year and years to come.

Nungsang Jamir and Nungshitemjen Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Fazl Ali College also exhorted the masses at the programme. The formal programme was followed by an entertainment session Reviting which featured Pelao Konyak, Temjensusang Longkumer and Burlemla Longkumer.
