Union expresses gratitude for help rendered to Western Rengmas

Tseminyu, June 20 (MExN): The Terogvünyu Chüpwe Union has expressed its deep appreciation to all the civil societies and NGOs of Nagaland and Assam, the District Administration, Police of Diphu (Assam), all the well wishers & sympathisers, who had rendered logistical support and timely help both in cash and kind to the displaced Western Rengma Nagas in Assam.

A press release by the Union’s president Logvubu Semp further acknowledged the sincere efforts put forth by all these agencies to bring the situation to near normal, enabling the displaced Rengmas to return to their respective villages. “It is to be placed on record that the Rengmas and Karbis have been peacefully co-existing since the early 19th century and as neighbours if there had been any omission or commission from either side, the matter can and should be settled amicably through proper dialogue and not resort to use of such threat and intimidation to fellow brethren,” it stated.

Meanwhile, it fervently appealed to the government of Assam, law enforcing agencies and all stakeholders of the society to formulate & initiate corrective measure, so that such unwarranted situation does not rise again in the future. “We plead that good sense prevail and justice is delivered to the rightful.”
