United Adivasi Village residents receive healthcare support

Karbi Anglong, November 28 (MExN): IMPACT in partnership with Dimapur based Eden Medical Centre (EMC) and Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR) organised a free medical check-up and treatment camp on November 24 at United Adivasi Village (UAV) in Karbi Anglong, Assam.   The camp was held with an aim to provide healthcare support to residents of UAV and its neighbouring villages. About 300 people from UAV and nearby villages benefited from the noble initiative.   A team of seven doctors including gynaecologist, dermatologist, paediatrician, surgeon and medicine, a pharmacist and four nurses from EMC and CIHSR rendered their services in the camp. Patients underwent health checkups and were given consultations and medicines free of cost. Some patients have been diagnosed for further treatment, stated a press release received here.   Speaking on the important initiative, Tilu Bagh, GB of United Adivasi Village, said, “About two decades back, a medical team from Bokajan had visited the village for free medical camp. But this is the first time a medical team from Nagaland has visited our village for a free medical camp.”   Stating that the villagers received very good medical treatment in the camp, he however regretted that not many from the neighbouring villages could attend the camp except those whom he personally transported from certain points. He thanked IMPACT and the medical team and hoped that a weekly or monthly medical health centre can be started in the village to benefit many from the area.   Senti Longkumer, Executive Director of IMPACT thanked the management and the medical team from the two hospitals for their sacrificial service. He also thanked Dr. Z. Mozhui of MH Hospital for his continued support in providing medical resources for the camp.   Lauding the GB, pastor, youth director, elders and volunteers of UAV for their support in hosting the free medical camp, he mentioned that his dream is to start a weekly medical health centre in the village to address the health issues of many from the area.
