In a joint collaboration, DPIIT, YouthNet, NEDFi and NEC hosted a practical meeting on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for entrepreneurs in Dimapur.

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): In a landmark collaboration, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) IPR Chair at NLUJA, Assam joined hands with YouthNet, North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi), Advancing North East under the aegis North Eastern Council to host a one day camp on free facilitation of IPR registration and awareness for entrepreneurs.
The event, held at the YouthNet Incubation Centre in Dimapur, aimed to empower startups and innovators of the region by providing expert advice and guidance cum filling of IPR, stated a press release from YouthNet office.

DPIIT IPR Chair Prof Dr Pankaj Kumar shared his expert advice for startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators to legally safeguard their intellectual property. This would equip them with the tools to register their intellectual property, granting them the ability to protect their creations and enhance professionalism within their businesses. Consultants from Advancing North East, operating under the auspices of the North Eastern Council MDoNER, along with a representative from NEDFi, also provided invaluable insights into the opportunities available for business development for entrepreneurs.
Nune Chase, Director, YouthNet, emphasized the critical importance of IPR protection for budding entrepreneurs, highlighting how it can serve as a foundation for long-term success while also reiterating the advantages of having the necessary paperwork in place, as it enables startups to access various benefits, including seed funding of up to 50 lakhs for prototypes, market entry, and commercialization, provided they are registered with YIC as incorporated companies.

One noteworthy feature of the event was the commitment of YouthNet to subsidize the costs associated with IPR filings, including patents, designs, copyrights, and trademarks, for attendees. This generous initiative aims to make IPR protection more accessible and affordable for those looking to establish and safeguard their ideas and innovations, the release stated.
