
Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): United Naga Tribes Association on Border Areas (UNTABA) had a public meeting at Tzudikong on April 20, which was hosted by Tuli Area Joint Council Forum (TAJCF).
The meeting resolved that the “interstate boundary between Assam and Nagaland should be settled at the time of Political Settlement.” It resolved that interim agreement of 1972 and 1979 and all other related agreements or MoUs should be reviewed immediately keeping in mind the historical and traditional boundaries of the Naga peoples.
UNTABA in a press release issued by its Chairman Hukavi T. Yeputhomi and Joint Secretary Ruchuyhun Keppen also stated that the house resolved to “remove or revoke Disputed Area Belt (DAB) considering the historical facts and the rights of the Naga people.”
“Nagaland Government should consider for deployment of Nagaland Armed Police at the border areas,” UNTABA appealed while adding that “polling station should be open in all Naga Villages in the border areas as per the franchise rights of the electorate.”
Parliamentary Secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control, N. Jacob Zhimomi attended and addressed the meeting on the behalf of Government of Nagaland and explained the stand point and seriousness on the issue.
Among others who attended and address the meeting includes Ex Minister K. Tiameren Aier, L. Temjen Jamir, Ex MLA, Shami Angh Ex MLA, President Kughalu Aye, Border Peace Coordination Committee Sector A,B,C, WY Kithan and H. Chingjei Konyak.
The meeting was attended by all the border districts Peren, Dimapur, Wokha, Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon.
