‘Uphold journalistic ethics and execute fair reporting’

Kohima Press Club observes 17th foundation day

Kohima, January 20 (MExN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC), which came into being in 2001 with an objective to promote both organizational and professional respect as well as regeneration of the press fraternity of the state capital, observed its 17th foundation day on January 20 by organizing a programme at the conference hall of Congress Bhavan, Kohima.  

Delivering the presidential address, KPC president Xavier Rutsa shared in brief the history of the club. He said the KPC was formed in 2001 by few members of the fourth estate and it became the oldest Press Club in the state. The KPC, which humbly began with a small number of members, has evolved into a strong body with 56 registered members from both print and electronic media today, Rutsa said.  

During the programme, senior members of the Press Club, Oken Jeet Sandham and Narain B. Sagar delivered brief speeches and shared their concerns for the welfare of the club and its members. They also encouraged the members of the club to uphold journalistic ethics and execute fair reporting during the forthcoming Nagaland Assembly Election 2018.  

Earlier, KPC member Rana Chetri prayed for the gathering while KPC general secretary Alice Yhoshü and treasurer Ng. Solomon Sha delivered their respective annual reports. The programme was chaired by KPC member, Vishü Rita Krocha. Altogether, 34 members and well wishers of the club attended the programme.  

Meanwhile, the KPC has extended gratitude to the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee for letting the Press Club use its conference hall to conduct the foundation day programme.
