The Ura Academy (UA) today hosted Tenyidie Writers and Poets Meet (Kethumia mu Üzomia Kehou) at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima.
UA President Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu encouraged the participants to continue their creative pursuits. He highlighted the significant progress of Tenyidie, the first language introduced at Nagaland University, where it has been studied for 26 years.
Recognizing literature as the foundation of civilization, Dr Liezietsu commended the contributions of Tenyidie writers and called for increased literary output, with more publications planned for next year. He emphasised that written works are essential to sustaining language and culture, urging attendees to use their talents for future generations.
Books written by Vizonyü Liezietsu on “Dievi mu mhasicako” (Wisdom and Archaic Words), Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu on “Theza-e kedipuo ga?,” and Thie we a vie (Geizo da), a book of poetry collected by Keviyiekhrieü Phewhuo and published by Ura Academy, were released on the occasion. The Library Committee report was presented by Vizonyü Liezietsu, Member of the Library Committee.
Earlier, lighting of the lamp was done by Rev. Savito Nagi, president, Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC). Speeches were delivered by writers Rev Savito Nagi and Neichüriezo Chücha, while Zacupa Chotso and Vesetso Rose recited poetry. Neisevituo Sorhie read from his book A neikezivi. The programme was led by Daso Paphino, Vice-President of UA. Rev Khrotso Mero invoked God’s blessings while a song was presented by Keneikrül Noswe. A drama was performed by students of the Department of Tenyidie, Nagaland University and folk songs presented by Dzüvihol Kweho and M Meguo-o, respectively.
On the occasion, a tribute was also paid to the late Dr D Kuolie, who served as Secretary General of Ura Academy.
Ura Academy Board of Directors Conclave
Ura Academy Board of Directors Conclave (Ura Academy Chathako Kehou) took place on October 25.
The programme featured flag hoisting by Rev Beilieü Shüya and the lighting of the lamp by P Sani Mao, member of the Ura Academy Board of Directors. The programme was led by UA president Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu with prayers offered by Rev Tsolie Chase. A special song was presented by students of Nagaland University's Tenyidie Department.
Rev Beilieü Shüya enlightened the gathering on the historical aspects of Ura Academy while UA Vice-President Daso Paphino presented a report on the renovation of the building.
