Kiphire, April 22 (MExN): Earth Day 2025 was observed under the theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet – Miti, Ped Aur Paani’ at GHSS Kiphire. The event was organised by the Ura Zuveh Foundation and sponsored by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
Speeches were delivered by resource persons Khangpila Sangtam, PGT Zoology and Wapengrenla Imchen, GT Science in official language and regional language respectively. Both the resource persons highlighted the urgency of climate action and the importance of adopting sustainable practices to safeguard the environment for future generations.
To engage students in environmental awareness, a drawing competition was also held, encouraging creative expression around the theme of Earth conservation.
In a symbolic gesture promoting ecological responsibility, Nusakho Nyekha led a tree plantation drive, underscoring the collective role of communities in preserving nature. The Earth Day Pledge was administered by Besuvoyi Nienu, reaffirming the commitment of participants toward sustainable living.
The programme was chaired by Vesukho Swuro, and the invocation was pronounced by Lingtsala Sangtam, GT, GHSS Kiphire. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vesezo Ringa
