USLB appeals for cooperation from tribal leaders

DIMAPUR, MARCH 12 (MExN): In regard to the situation under Kiphire District prevailing after the massacre of the seven family members of Zaonger village including the Hd GB, the United Sangtam Likhum Bumji (USLB) appealed to all tribal leaders and organizations under Kiphire district to co-operate with the law executing agencies to bring the situation to normalcy.

The USLB has asked the government not to delay in taking appropriate steps to normalize the current situation in Kiphire district.

They also cautioned the Sangtam individuals not to give any write-up which will tend to disturb the relation between the tribal organizations and further requested the organizations/associations not to pinpoint any particular person or Government officials who are discharging their bonafide assigned duties.

It may be noted that USLB had an emergency meeting on March 11 in regard to the said situation. “Likhum Bumji also regrets to see that individuals and Unions are taking the law into their own hands as if there is no government, which is a mockery to the modern society.” stated USLB President, R Tsapikiu Sangtam.
