Kohima, October 13 (MExN): The UTT 27th Inter-District and State Table Tennis Championship 2024 concluded successfully on October 11 at the Kohima Indoor Table Tennis Stadium. In a nail-biting contest, the Chumoukedima Men’s team emerged as champions, while the Kohima Women’s team secured the championship trophy for the third consecutive year.

The tournament was sponsored and supported by Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT), promoted by Vita Dani and Niraj Bajaj. A total of 12 districts participated, with 130 athletes competing for the coveted title, showcasing the talent and passion for table tennis in the region.

Dr. Asalie Khezhie, Deputy Director of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, attended the closing ceremony as the special guest.

The championship featured matches across various categories. In the Under 15 Boys Singles, Akumlong claimed the champion title, with Kihikha Yeptho as the runner-up. Mhasivi Miachio triumphed in the Under 19 Boys Singles, while David Hinglak finished as the runner-up. The duo of Mhasivi Miachio and Nirmal Ale won the Under 19 Boys Doubles, defeating David Hinglak and Akumlong, who were the runners-up. In the Under 19 Girls Singles, Vichaduomuo Rame emerged as the champion, with Elita as the runner-up.

In the women’s category, Thajavinuo Rio won the Women’s Singles title, with Avitoli taking the runner-up spot. The Women’s Doubles champions were Thejavinuo Rio and Avitoli, while Keneilhouvinuo Khezhie (Nana) and Akuonuo K. Yhome finished as runners-up. In the men’s events, Seyievilie Seyie claimed victory in the Men’s Singles, followed by Imlinungba Jamir in second place. The Men’s Doubles title went to Hito and Dijang, who outperformed Tsakhe Kenye and Seyievilie Seyie. Seyievituo Yano and Avitoli Yepthomi secured the Mixed Doubles championship, with Meyinukshi Longkumer and Thejavinuo Rio as runners-up.

In the veterans’ categories, L. David emerged as the champion in the Veterans 40+ Singles, while Kevirielie Dzuvichu finished as the runner-up. Dr. Juthshutho Phoji won the Veterans 50+ Singles title, with Bhopen Singh as the runner-up, and Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino claimed the Veterans 60+ Singles championship, followed by Mangyang Longkumer. The Veterans Doubles champions were Temsumeren and Bhopen Singh, while Dr. Juthsuitho Phoji and Victor Joy Ezung took second place.

The Kohima District claimed the Women’s Team Championship, with Nuiland District as the runner-up. The Chumoukedima District emerged as the Men’s Team Champion, while Dimapur District finished in second place.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the athletes and the support of the organizers.
