Value Naga cultural system: Yitachu

Phor (Meluri) | January 7 : A cultural day programme was organised during the 13th session of Phoyisha Cultural Organization (PYO) at Phor village public ground on January 5 which is situated more than 100 km away from Meluri Town. Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism, Law and Justice, Yitachu was the chief guest. Eight neighbouring villages including Phor, New Phor, Wuzu, Hutsu, Yisi, Shatuza, Kuzatu, Waziho and Yisisota participated in the three days event.
Speaking on the occasion, Yitachu said any activity what ‘We’ normally follow, is all a culture, be it songs, dance, or may be religion, it is all a culture. It is believed that Phor village follows a good culture in settling disputes with no favouritism under the customary law, following the cultural system; Yitachu reminded the villagers that good things should grow along with what is in the right track. Yitachu while saying that wealth can be rebuild, however culture, if not maintained will perish and cannot be retained also appealed to the gathering to liven up and value Naga cultural system. He called upon the villagers to maintain peace among the neighbouring villages which is also a culture. The parliamentary secretary also urged the participants to give render their best effort in the competition.
The competition on the first day was held for Blowing of Trumpets, Tetelotete, Women free style dance competition. Earlier the chief guest inaugurated the customary court Phor, at Phor EAC Complex, where he urged the gathering to deliver justice to the people as per the law with no fear. Later in the evening, he also inaugurated water supply tank at New Phor village.
