Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): A month-long campaign to sensitize the masses on the importance of quality education and child rights was conducted in the month of March in and around Dimapur.

According to a press release received on Monday, the campaign was initiated by Can Youth in collusion with DKA Austria and Child Line Dimapur. The theme of the campaign which began on March 1 and concluded on March 31 was ‘Community Voice on Enhancing Quality education and Domestic Violence.’

The campaign was facilitated by the interns of Can Youth from Assam Don Bosco University, St Joseph University Dimapur and Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad, the release informed.

It also stated that the campaign reached out to the community areas of both private and government schools with the sole purpose of imparting knowledge to create a better understanding of the importance of quality education and child rights. Poster campaigns and social media campaigns were also initiated around Dimapur.

Various life skills training and ice breaking activities were also being conducted so as to bring a sense of responsibilities among members of the society, it added.

The release further stated that there was an alarming rise in domestic violence cases against children and the quality of education had degraded post the COVID-19 induced lockdowns. The objective of the campaign was to address these issues through community and children participation, it stated.
