MLA Y. Vikheho Swu inaugurated the newly constructed Village Development Board Association Pughoboto Conference Hall cum office building under Rural Development Block Ghathashi at Pughoboto on November 18.
Addressing the gathering, Swu lauded the efforts of the Association in successfully constructing the building to House different offices besides the facility of a conference hall. Emphasizing on the responsibilities of Village Development Board towards successful implementation of various government schemes and also to ensure the welfare of the villages, Swu said VDBs should maintain transparency and accountability of the funds received from the government and utilize it for the uplift of the village in possible spheres.
“A strong VDB would ensure all round development and economic uplift of the village,” he said while also calling upon the people of the area to avail the benefit of the schemes available with Central and State government. Swu also appealed the VDBs in Pughoboto sub-division to work in cohesion for the economic and social transformation of the area.
Delivering a short speech, ADC Pughoboto, Avelu Ruho urged the village leaders to utilize the VDB fund judiciously for the development of the respective area. She said that proposal to setup SBI branch in the sub-division is under active consideration of the Bank authorities and likely to be approved soon, which will solve the banking problem faced by people of Pughoboto sub-division.
Short speeches were also delivered by BDO Ghathashi Obed Achumi, President Aphuyemi Sumi Hoho Inavi Swu and SAKK President Khkuto V. Achumi. The programme chaired by VDBA Pughoboto vice president Vihokhu Swu. Presidential address was delivered by Vikato M. Swu while vote of thanks was proposed by VDBA Pughoboto vice president Boska Swu.
