A vehicle rally was organised in Zunheboto on August 12 as part of the observance of International Youth Day 2026 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” The rally was organised by the District Integrated Strategy for HIV & AIDS (DISHA), Zunheboto, under the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Zunheboto, with support from NSACS, Kohima.
The rally commenced at 6 am from the Woodland Higher Secondary School Junction and proceeded towards the District Sports Council Ground, Zunheboto, marking the beginning of the day’s programme.
The programme was moderated by Toli Zhimo, Counsellor, OST, District Hospital, Zunheboto. The rally began with an invocation by Kabo K Achumi, Associate Pastor, SBCZ (Sector).
Speaking on the significance of the day, Hokishe Chophy, District Programme Officer, DISHA Zunheboto, highlighted the importance of International Youth Day and the role of young people in creating greater awareness and community participation. He noted that HIV/AIDS is no longer a new concept and stressed the need to understand how to respond to it without discriminating against people living with HIV. He also called for collective efforts to spread awareness messages.
Anguvito Sumi, District Sports Officer, Zunheboto, delivered the speech and flagged off the vehicle rally. Sumi said the rally formed part of the district’s awareness activities aimed at promoting youth participation and amplifying messages on HIV/AIDS and STI awareness. He encouraged young people to contribute towards healthier and more informed communities.
