Vehicular emission awareness drive in Kohima launched

Kohima, August 8 (MExN): Nagaland Transport Commissioner, Elias T Lotha, inaugurated a vehicular emission awareness drive at the Transport Commissionerate premises in Kohima on August 8. 

A DIPR report stated that addressing the gathering, the Commissioner highlighted the prominent role of motor vehicles as the primary source of air pollution in Nagaland. He stressed the importance of changing mindsets and becoming proactive to achieve positive outcomes. The Commissioner emphasized that collective efforts from citizens, policymakers, and vehicle manufacturers are pivotal in effectively curbing vehicular pollution. 

He expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Pollution Control Board for funding the initiative, noting that awareness about impending dangers is crucial for protection. He characterized the campaign as a form of civic education to awaken society to the realities of pollution and its potential benefits through reduction.

The event began with an invocation by Ikuto Sumi, followed by an introductory address delivered by Mulusato Shijob, a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI). The programme was chaired by Purnungsang, Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO).
