 26 years Vekutho Soho, son of Hukhoneyi Soho today emerged as the champion of 45th wrestling meet 2022 of Phek Wrestling Association (PWA), which took place at Phek village in coinciding with Sukrunye festival.

Raleve Chizo, son of Kuveto Chizo, Kuluvezo Soho, son of Venechi Soho and Shedekho Hoshi, son of Thupukhayi Hoshi bagged 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.

Thupumutu Chizo, son of Kuvepa Chizo bagged the champion title Under 16 years category.

Mutsihu Hoshi, son of Yieveta Hoshi, Nutsove Venuh, son of Lt. Khuzoyi Venuh and Muguto Chizo, son of Vepaneyi Chizo stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.

Top four winners in senior category along with Surhoneyi Soho, Basayi Keyho, Vekuhu Rhakho, Beduhu, Haseo Venuh and Tave Keyho will represent PWA at the forthcoming Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) wrestling meet 2022.

Further, top four wrestlers Under 16 years category will represent PWA at the forthcoming PAWA wrestling meet 2022.

Earlier,  gracing the meet as the special guest, MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu stated that to become a good sportsman one needs to go through a certain process of well discipline, dedicated training which is not easy, but he rest assured that the pain one feels today during the process of training will ultimately become one’s strength tomorrow.

He also stated that this is a time to test one’s ideas, a test of one’s patience, a test of one’s tactics, a test of tricks a test of wits, a test of one’s mental and physical fitness and above all a test of one’s strength.

Heipeiding Ilunglang, BDO Phek graced the valedictory function and gave away prize to the winners.

PWA president Thuputhiyi Venuh delivered presidential address while welcome address was delivered by Phek Village Council chairman Kuzhoniecho Keyho.

PWA technical secretary Chotha Soho administered oath to the wrestlers.

Kudezo Vero and Phizhoto Venuh chaired the inaugural and closing function respectively while vote of thanks was proposed by PWA vice president Vepichi Keyho.
