Venüzo Dawhuo is Chokri area wrestling champ

Winners of 29th CAWA wrestling meet 2022 with officials.

Venüzo Dawhuo from Thenyizu village today emerged as the champion of the 29th wrestling meet of Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA), held at Thipuzu village.

Dawhuo received a cash prize of Rs. 90,000.

Besuhveto Cumu of Phüsachodü, Vetuzo Dawhuo of Thenyizu and Pfusato Tetseo of K Bawe stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions and were awarded Rs. 70,000, Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively.

In the junior category, Zhoveto Nakro of Thenyizu emerged as the champion.

Küvetsüto Kezo of Kikruma, Metüve Chüzho of Thipuzu and Chikhuthi Vero of North Kikruma stood 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

Nagaland Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Advisor, Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire graced the meet as special guest while Commissioner and Secretary for Rural Development, Neposo Theluo graced the valedictory function as the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kire challenged the different wrestling organisations, especially Nagaland Wrestling Association to undertake district tour programmes to create awareness and connect Naga wrestling to other tribes.

Earlier, the inaugural function was led by Vekhotsoyi Nyekha while Dzüthokhoto Tetseo, President, CAWA delivered the presidential address. Vote of thanks was proposed by Cefhütso Keyho.

Meanwhile, CAWA executives for the tenure 2022-24 have been announced. The new team will be led by President Vezhoduyi Thisa, Vice President- Vethihu Kezo, General Secretary Chekrotso Chüzho, Finance Secretary Samuel Kapu, Technical Secretary Theoukhoyi Swuro, Advisors Vehücho Rhakho and Vechiso Chüzho, and representative to Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA), Dzüthokhoto Tetseo.
