The Victor 1st North East Masters’ Badminton Championship concluded here today at the DDBA Indoor Stadium, Kuda (Nagarjan), Dimapur.
Hosted by the Dimapur District Badminton Association (DDBA) under the aegis of the Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA), the three day Masters’ Championship kicked off on May 4 with Nagaland Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio inaugurating the tournament.
Nagaland Minister for Roads & Bridges Vikheho Swu, who is also President of the Nagaland Badminton Association was the guest of honour at the closing.
Ashwini Ponnappa, India International and Brand Ambassador, Victor India was also present at the closing as special guest.
Ponnappa in a brief speech termed badminton a “wonderful sport” and viewed that the North East has a lot of potential. Expressing happiness to be part of the programme, the India International stated that she would love to come back for a badminton course to help develop the sport in the region. “I hope to get that opportunity,” she added.
