DIMAPUR, JUNE 7 (MExN): In the first initiative of its kind, the Joint Forum Working Committee of Nagaland GBs Federation and Nagaland DBs Association, resolved for a “must agree” Cease-Fire between all factions for six months with immediate affect.
The resolution was adopted during the Joint Forum General Meeting at State Academy Hall, Kohima, yesterday. The meeting under the theme “To stop bloodshed and fratricidal killings amongst the Naga National Workers” was chaired by A. Taku Longkumer, Convener of the Joint Forum Working Committee.
The resolution of the Forum also stated that refusal to abide with this clarion call and appeal of the Joint Forum would result in non- cooperation to the particular group. The Forum added that any killing taking place within the currency of the Cease-fire would be investigated by a committee of DB and GB representatives and the guilty party would be brought to justice as per appropriate Customary Laws or enacted laws as deemed fit.
During the inter-factional Ceasefire period, the Forum also resolved to take initiatives of bringing top leaders of the different groups together into a meeting under the protection of its members to thrash out their difference.
Moreover the meeting discussed that the Ceasefire and its Ground Rules enforcement between the GoI and the NSCNs must be geared up. It appealed to the Enforcing Agencies of the Ground Rules for its strengthening and conveyed full support for its effective implementation.
The meeting of the Joint Forum had discussed and condemned the fratricidal killings among the factions, advocating peaceful and conducive atmosphere. The Forum added that the entire GB and DB members of the state would unitedly take up the matter, if any member of the Joint Forum was victimized by any group while implementing the resolutions.
