DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The joint Area Village Councils of Tamlu, Namsang, Kanching and Nyethnyu villages today issued a joint statement refuting allegations made by the Tamlu Area Aggrieved Land Owners Union (TAALOU) of fraud in compensation pertaining to the two lane Tamlu-Merangkong-Mon road project under Phase ‘A’ of SARDP-NE.
A joint statement appended by Chairman of Tamlu Village Council, L Lungli; Bura Namsang Village Council Chairman, Mungshen; and Land Owner’s Union president, Solomon and Secretary, Longyan stated that the “allegation of fraud and manipulation as stated is not true.” “The beneficiaries were provided with abstract copy as well as the land acquisition estimates, where detail property was mentioned and the amount against each property,” it added.
The statement further informed that “missing names and less amount of beneficiaries were already highlighted to the appropriate authority for redressal.” It meanwhile stated that “there has never been a TAALOU,” however adding that a union called the Affected Land Owner’s Union Tamlu (ALOUT) was already formed from the beginning in consultation with the village council to address any issue regarding assessment and payment of property damage compensation.
