Mokokchung, December 1 (MExN): A one-day seminar on various governmental programmes was held for the villages under 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency at Orija Salang, Changki on November 29.

The seminar was organised under the initiative of MLA & Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba. It was attended by all the villages under the constituency, stated a press release issued by Media Cell, NDPP 29 Jangpetkong AC.

Delivering the inaugural remarks, MLA & Advisor Temjenmenba laid out the main objective of organising the seminar as a means to sensitise the villages under the Constituency on the different government schemes for the people. He observed that the villages under his constituency “seemed” to be unaware of the different governmental schemes. Therefore, he particularly stressed on the Village Integrated Cooperative Society (VICS) which is under the Union Ministry of Cooperation headed by Amit Shah who is also the Union Home Minister.

Underscoring the importance of this programme, the Advisor appealed each village under the constituency to make it a point to set up a VICS so that the village can avail different developmental schemes through that Society. He added that developmental activities in this modern times call for active involvement of everyone, and setting up the VICS would greatly enable the village in availing the different governmental schemes for development. “It is the best means for collective involvement of all to bring development,” the Advisor added.

LADP fund is ‘not a party fund’

On another note, Temjenmenba, who is the local NDPP MLA from the 29 Jangpetkong AC, categorically stated and urged the NDPP party leaders present at the programme to understand that the LADP fund is “not a party fund.”

He said that the LADP fund would be used for developmental works only and the villages should also show visible developmental works done by the LADP fund. Temjenmenba reminded of his election campaign pledge of serving the people on ‘mission mode’ and added that there would be no compromise when it comes to that pledge when it comes to developing the constituency.

“This is just the beginning and it will continue. Today we are just igniting a small fire and it will grow bigger, therefore we need the involvement of everyone in our mission to develop our constituency,” the Advisor added.

The resource persons educated the participating villages on the different government flagship programmes like the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, CM Corpus Fund, Chief Minister Micro Finance Initiative etc. and also held active interaction with the participants.

The resource persons were Joint Registrar of Nagaland Cooperative Society Bendang Yaden who spoke on the topic “Introduction to Village Integrated Cooperative Society”; Senior Dental Surgeon (IMDH, Mokokchung) Dr Taliwaba who spoke on the topic “introduction to CH Health Insurance Scheme”; and OSD to MLA & Advisor Transport and Technical Education, Zulutemjen Ozukum spoke on the topic “Introduction to CM Corpus Fund & CMMFI.”
