
Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): The Dorians Society of Dimapur organised a medical cum relief camp for the displaced families of North Cachar (NC) Hills ethnic violence, yesterday at Jalukie.
In a press note issued by KW Longkumer, Information and Publicity In-Charge of the said society stated: “The Dorians Society wanted to share the blessings that they have received in the last 13 years after the formation of the society by helping the displaced families in a small way.
“The Dorians Society has no political agenda, but it wants to spread a small message that peace and love should prevail and war and violence is not the best alternative to settle a dispute.”
It said that the medical camp was carried out by four doctors supported by nurses, lab technicians and a pharmacist. Altogether 195 patients turned up for the free medical treatment and medicines. Meanwhile, the members distributed chocolates and Maggi noodles to the children and 700 kgs of rice and 200 kgs of potatoes were distributed among the displaced families along with clothes.
It also stated that the SDO (C) of Jalukie, L Jamithung accompanied by two of his colleagues attended the event. The SDO (C) thanked the society for carrying out the good work and that it will not only benefit the displaced families but also people living in and around the area.
At the end of the event, the vice president of Zeliangrong Baudi, Raitu-Elu said that he is grateful to the society for coming forward and helping the people at the need of the hour. He also added that the selfless love that the society has shown to the people will always be remembered, it stated.
The note further added that the displaced families expressed their thankfulness to the society. They said that the situation compelled them to leave their homes and come here for refuge. The society’s effort in showing love to its own Naga brethrens will not be forgotten. They have nothing to give in return but will pray that almighty God will bless the society abundantly. Moreover, the remaining medicines were donated to the Jalukie Primary Health Centre and the relief rations were handed over to the Relief Committee at Jalukie, it added.
