The state level Swachhata Hi Seva 2022 (Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) was launched at PHED Conference Hall, Kohima with the theme, ‘Visual Cleanliness’ on September 15. 

It was launched by E. Mhonbemo Patton, Principal Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, PHED.

Er N Thsathrichem Sangtam, Chief Engineer, Sanitation & WSSO, PHED delivered the keynote address. He said that Swachhata Hi Seva is an annual event which is held from September 15 to October 2 every year to create a Jan Andolan through community participation to make our villages visually clean and litter free.

“Role of Village Development Board (VDB) in Village Sanitation Plan” was presented by K Neibou Sekhose, Joint Director, Rural Development, Nagaland. Er Ichirang Zeliang, Executive Engineer, Sanitation and WSSO, PHED highlighted the action plan of Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2022.

The campaign will encompass many sanitation and awareness drives by the village community which includes Community participation in keeping the villages visually clean, Mass Shramdan, cleaning of garbage places and water bodies and planting trees around them.

Slogan writing and wall painting on ‘No Littering,’ pledge on ‘No Littering,’ Gram Sabhas on ill effects of Single use plastics (SUPs) and distribution of IEC pamphlets on SUPs and many other initiatives will also mark the campaign. Er L Leyang Khiamniungan, SE (P&T) chaired the programme.
