SASU 69th biennial conference culminates
Kohima, January 20 (MExN): The 69th Biennial General Conference of the Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) concluded this evening at Zaso Ground, Mima Village under the theme, “Metamorphosis of ideas and approach.”
Khrievi Sahu, Coordinator, Students’ Ministry, NBCC who was speaking at the devotional session this morning while elaborating the difference between a person's vocation and his/her career said, “Vocation is synonymous with 'calling' and it is something we do in addition to our primary activity, job or work.”
The coordinator mentioned that without a vocation or calling, our lives will be meaningless and we will be stuck with the mundane tasks of life until our death.
So, she urged the students to choose a vocation which will extend God's kingdom further. She also dwelt on the need to spread the Gospel in the 'marketplace' or secular arena.
Khrievi also implored students to lead exemplary lives and called upon them to follow the example of Nehemiah as they too will become leaders of people in the near future.
She took the Biblical example of Nehemiah from the Old Testament who, from being the cup-bearer of the king of Persia, led the Israelites in rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, which was destroyed by the Babilonians in 52 days.
The speaker then elaborated that Nehemiah could achieve this task because of his prayerful commitment, his faith in God, his timely action and his selfless love for his people.
A message was also delivered by President of Southern Angami Women's Organisation (SAWO) during the session.
During the valedictory session held in the afternoon, the outgoing President, Ketholeto Anthony Zashümo delivering his message thanked all the individuals and groups who supported him during his two year tenure and also assured his full support for the new team.
The new President, Virato Naleo, thanked the federating units for electing him as the new President and also sought their full cooperation for the upcoming events and plans.
The students’ conference saw more than 500 attendances from the Southern Angami village units. The next session of SASU biennial conference will be hosted by Kezoma village in 2021, the press release informed.
