
Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): Western Angami Government School Teachers’ Union (WAGSTU) has appeal to the national workers to “conscientiously give due regard to the sentiments of the teachers and spare the rod of harassment against the school teachers.” The WAGSTU also extend its fullest support to the stand of NSF, ENSF and ANSTA to refrain from paying taxes to any political group in the name of national workers.
WAGSTU Vice President, Thepfükuokho and general secretary Kekoyato Nisa in a press release stated that teachers are builders of the nation for the unique roles they play in the task of nation building, specifically in imparting human resource development, knowledge and education to the children irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Teachers serve the children of both high and low, educated and uneducated, as role models. Teachers should be free from physical, mental and emotional harassment in order to give their best to the society, and particularly to the school children including the children of the national workers.
The Union also added that almost all the children in Government schools are not from well to do family as such many of their needs are looked after by the teachers and with the introduction of communitization of school. For the welfare of the society, the teachers contribute employ additional teacher wherever there is shortage of teacher in their respective school.
