Mokokchung, February 16 (MExN): Observing the nationwide road safety month, a walkathon was organized by District Road Safety Committee, Mokokchung on February 15, from Sewak Gate to Imlong Place Mokokchung where personnel of DEF Mokokchung, 23 Assam Rifles, NCC Cadets, members of Run Mokokchung participated.
A DIPR report stated that addressing the participants at Imlong Place, Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Vishal, IPS said that in India, thousands of people die every year in road accidents, road safety should be made a social movement. He urged the participants to make a pledge to go and educate people around them on road safety saying that everyone must come and work together to create road safety awareness so that many lives can be saved.
The walkathon was flagged off at the Sewak Gate by the Commandant 23 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, Raj Kumar.
