Wangtin demands ‘authentic proof’

DIMAPUR, JAN 20 (MExN): Responding to the statement “Konyaks and Tangkhuls are not enemies” as earlier issued by NSCN (IM) Kilonser Tongmeth Wangnao appearing in a section of the local media, the NSCN (K) Deputy Kilonser Y. Wangtin Naga while agreeing that Konyaks have no ill feeling towards any body, stated that it was the Tangkhul leaders who have “bitter feeling and antagonism towards the peace loving Konyaks”.

“It is under the leadership and directions of the Tangkhul leaders, more than 19 Konyak civilians were murdered by IK-group under the cover of peace process”, Wangtin stated in a press rejoinder received here.

Recalling that Late Thongo, Congress candidate of 55 A/C Tobu was kidnapped and killed by the NSCN (IM) at Dimapur on May 19, 2004, Wangtin stated that no action was initiated by the NSCN (IM) leaders and that even a letter from Gen SS Kumar, IG Assam Rifles for handover of the culprits to the police had been rejected by Rh Raising, the then Kilo Kilonser NSCN (IM).

Further it was pointed out that the kidnapping of Tobu-Mon Sumo Tata passengers by the NSCN (IM) between Tobu and Okha village and consequent beheading of four persons on June 7, 2005 have not been seriously viewed by the NSCN (IM) leaders, particularly Rh Raising.

The NSCN (K) Deputy Kilonser also alleged that the assassination plot of Late Ngampan, Kilonser was executed under the commander of the Tangkhuls. “But peace loving Konyaks have no ill-feeling towards the Tangkhuls”, Wangtin maintained while making it clear that even the NSCN (K) Konyak leaders never have a plan to assassinate or punish any Tangkhul leaders.

“Then, my elder brother, how can you take the place of Tangkhul and state that Tangkhuls have no ill feeling towards Konyaks?” Wangtin in his rejoinder to Tongmeth stated while ridiculing the latter that he had become a “slave under Tangkhul leadership” and without any authority to save even the lives of innocent Konyaks.

“I can save your life in case you are caught by the NSCN Naga Army because I have authority over my army”, Wangtin continued and asked Tongmeth to clarify to the Konyaks his position and status. “You have been a lion in NSCN organization but become a cat today”, the NSCN (K) leader stated referring to Tongmeth and pointing out that the latter from the position of “second Prime Minister” in the NSCN (K) was reduced to the rank of a clerk in the NSCN (IM) and without any authority to save even the life of innocent Konyaks.

The Deputy Kilonser also demanded that if at all the two Konyak youths recently killed were NSCN (K) members, Tongmeth should come out with authentic proof of their ranks and military numbers etc.
