The Sumi Hoho leader also pointed out that the Telecommunication network in the district was extremely poor leading to public inconvenience.
The Sumi Hoho also lamented that a Development seminar was conducted at Tuensang & Mon and adjoining districts in the year 2000 but work amounting to Rs 5-6 crores had not been implemented although the Centre had already approved and sanctioned it. He asked the Rural Development Department to investigate into the matter.
Kitoho Rotokha, Vice Chairman ZTC said that the construction of Indoor stadium was sanctioned when the present MP was the sports Minister and informed that it was on the verge of completion. He also stated that the lone playground was quickly ‘vanishing’ due to landslide and the area becoming unusable and therefore asked for a new ground.
MP Wangyuh in his address assured that he was doing everything possible for the people. “If I am not in the Centre, Nagas are not there” said the lone Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland. “I am from a constituency of 9 villages but now the whole Nagaland is my constituency with more than 1400 villages and many Towns”. He asked the people to bring their grievances in written as memorandum or draft. “Delhi has to give a lot of money to us, therefore it is up to the people to suggest.”
He further said that substantial amount of money had been given by individuals and also under MP Rajhya Sabha scheme. “So where is the money? If I give money will you do the work?” the MP asked.
Regarding the road maintenance, Wangyuh expressed his displeasure over the present road condition especially between Kohima-Mariani via Zunheboto and said he was in touch with the Border Road Organization (BRO) and had asked the BRO executing officer (C.E) to take up immediate measures for improving road conditions.
Wangyuh also encouraged the elders and leaders to create awareness of the office attendance by government employees. “Most officers are operating from Kohima or Dimapur, therefore it is up to all leaders to ensure that officers have to be in station for 15 days”, he said.
The MP also informed that funds for Urban Development from the Centre would be made available by this year. Speaking about the economic condition, Wangyuh said the Chakhesangs were the best, as they ate what they breed and grow. “So Sumi people should also learn to eat what they breed and grow.”
I have been chosen by my people to serve them, everything my people need I will help and serve them in all possible ways”, Said the MP to The Morung Express. “I am the Doctor and the Nagas are my patients, I will give all my time and effort to help and let my people survive.”
